I hadn't emptied the rain gauge since Thursday and emptied it late afternoon yesterday. I have no idea how much rain but the gauge was overflowing at 6-1/2". This morning at 8:30AM it had a little over 3 inches in the gauge as we had had 4 storms move over with heavy rain. Light rain in between storms. Atlanta has flooding, southern GA flooding, and they are closing parts of the interstate. They may have to do the same between us and Chattanooga as traffic is backed up and, among others, one son cannot get to work.

We are going to call the fire department and see if the shelters are full, if so, we are near the high school and may try to put up a family, or two. The school yard has newly sodded grass and so far, the rain is soaking in..Between us and the school all rain goes to the lower areas. Weather channel says because the jet stream is north of us rain is not moving out in these areas.

I had to chase the dog down and pitch her out into the covered run I had constructed. She likes bathtub water and drinking out of the water hose but became a sissy when going out into the rain to find a "bathroom". LOL

Thanks teagranny, as of last evening we have had 23" of rain. We seem to not have much flooding here but towns 20 mi north of us had some flooding near a creek to the eaves of their houses. Chattanooga (north)had much flooding of the city and Atlanta(south has been on the news with flooding and deaths related to it. The interstate was closed in areas 15-20 miles north of Atlanta.

Thanks for the update Shar, I was wondering if you were safe. Is it letting up yet, I didn't see anything last night about it.

Well folks welcome to the future. With the Artic warming, and the colder weather going more south because of the jet stream and melting ice, the mid continent is getting Canada's snow and rain. Take heart, it won't last.
