Somebody claiming to be a U.S. Marine Captain John Cambell wrote a Letter to the Editor of the Northern Territory News after a night out 'clubbing' in Darwin.
In it, the writer slammed young Australian women for their skimpy attire.

It must be a slow-news day because the story has attracted an avalanche of attention - and a predictable response from Aussies - male and female.

However,
" As the spat threatened to become an international incident, the US consulate responded that they could not find a serving US Marine with that name in Australia, and the Northern Territory News confirmed they had been unable to contact the Marine since the letter had been received, thus furthering the mystery."

If the letter is genuine, perhaps somebody should get this bloke to have a look at a map.
On said map, he will find Darwin about one inch south of the EQUATOR.
ummmmmmm ..... it's HOT and HUMID there ?!
And Darwin is not Sydney or Melbourne. It's what the Y anks may once have called a "frontier-town".
Pretty laid-back ... and with its own very clearly defined standards.

Methinks the esteemed captain might have mis-read some signals whilst out at the nightclubs and didn't handle rejection too well.
I mean, how is it possible that an appropriately clad (for the climate) Aussie girl could reject a MARINE ?????
Unthinkable.

I see you jump right up like a jack-in-a-box when someone says anything derogatory about Australia.
Imagine that?

Just think what you would have to say if this so-called Marine was overheard saying that Australia was part of the slaughter of "millions and millions and millions" like some other loose-jawed desta-le-mengia that we know?

One is true - America has killed millions of innocents.
The other is untrue - women who wear clothing suitable for the tropics are "cheap".

You will have to explain the "desta-le-mengia".
Neither I, nor any search engine, is familiar with the expression.
